style rules

Over the last few months I've been paring down the good ole closet to ONLY pieces I love as guided by the below style rules I've set for myself...

1. I will only wear high waisted pants (this shows off my waist)
2. ...wear only one button blazers that are tailored (shows off my waist)
3. ...embrace color and prints (creates interest)
4. ...mix high and low (H & M blazer, YSL blouse, Mother jeans, Carter watch)
5. ...enhance my stature with wedges or at least a 3 inch heel (elongates legs)
6. ...show off my curves with clothes that hug my body and don't add bulk
7. ...radiate sexy glamour with a classic modern twist 

Today I felt especially confident and comfortable in my look.

camera ready??

This weekend was all about good friends. Jen and Diane are two of my best friends. Jen (in middle) and I lived together in Detroit for years and she's one of my most important style inspirations. Diane, our other good friend, is on the left... note the amazing ombre hair! I took a picture to see if I could get my stylist, Anna Marie, at Figo to whip up something equally cool. That will be another post on its own.

NOTE: I am on the right... I love the Thakoon dress for Target purchased on Ebay. HOWEVER, it makes me look HUGE in pictures. Something to think about if you want to present yourself in a certain way for pictures; I talk to clients about this all the time when planning what to wear for formal events. In this instance, I am fine with a look slightly less flattering however for an event or formal photo op, I always take a pre event picture at home to see how the end result translates digitally. Just because you love to wear something doesn't mean it's the  best option for a camera ready pose. 

No time to wait for Esty to ship? Get that cute little piece of crafty heaven on your ride home... so very excited the City Bird world is expanding. Brother & sister duo Andy and Emily Linn open their second venture, Nest, in the old Bureau of Urban Design space. The Bureau was one of the first cool shops to open when I lived in Detroit. I shed a momentary tear while grabbing  my wallet to support Nest. 

I can't make it tonight but am stopping by ASAP to do some xmas shopping.

near perfect boots

Ever see a pair of shoes walking by and they end up haunting you forever? One of my boutique buyers had the coolest pair of boots from Tory Burch. Gorgeous, easy to wear, mid-calf black leather with an easy square 3 inch heel and sexy gold buckles running up the side. Of course, purchased last year so my hopes of finding THE exact pair were dashed... but those beauties stuck in my mind ever since.

BUT - I found this pair of Jeffery Campbell's on Revolve last night. After a good night's sleep, I still love 'em and think it worth the $181. Not the spitting image of the TB boots but an excellent option for every day.
